Director of Marketing, Payne Hicks Beach, 2021-2023

After completing a strategic review, invited to go in-house to implement recommendations. A hand's on role including agency reviews for digital and PR, building up the team, two major client events and a rebrand: all successfully delivered within 18 months.

Director of Business Development & Marketing, Cripps, 2011-2021

Modernised marketing and business development at UK top100 regional law firm, introducing sector- and specialism-focused approach to BD, championing pitch excellence, driving innovation in digital BD, CRM and client care programmes. Built a team of skilled, commercial marketers and business developers to deliver a creative, client-focused and ROI-led marketing strategy across full marketing mix.

Head of Business Development, Simmons & Simmons, 2007-2009

Contributed to the firm’s £70million increase in global revenues during this 2-year period, through my leadership of the BD function.  In the wake of the banking crisis impact on major practice areas, I was promoted to Acting Director to lead a strategic cost cutting exercise saving £2.3 million/annum. Managed a team of 60.

Director, Business Planning & Development, Corporate Banking, Deutsche Bank, 2004-2005

Led and developed European team pioneering development and use of an innovative fee pool-based cross-product market analysis to identify untapped market opportunities and improve business growth.  Built business cases for strategic investment into Swiss, Nordic, UK markets and Financial Institutions and Industrial/Natural Resources sectors. Contributed to successful increase in origination and advisory business by EUR366million/year.

 

Director, Business Development & Marketing, Global Banking – Deutsche Bank, 1999-2003

Business project manager for business development activity system and client relationship management system implementations, delivering more effective use of bankers’ time, improving communication with and cross-team co-ordination around clients. Co-created client relationship programme, ensuring 360 degree perspective on clients, standardised reporting and person-mapping, and conducting review meetings with relationship managers.

 

Vice President, Marketing Services, Global Investment Banking – Bankers Trust Company, 1996-1999

Responsible for GIB Europe client relationship management, marketing, pitches and client briefings for Chairman/Board. Created and managed pitch and professional bio libraries, produced client pitches and presentations, led cross sell and product training programmes.
